Loneliness kills

Loneliness is a voluntary condition and is a life threatening one. Social isolation is just as bad as someone who smokes 15 cigarettes a day, being an alcoholic, not exercising and twice as bad as obesity. Lack of social support should be added to the list of risk factors for an early grave. People who invest in relationships live 50% longer than those who don’t. When someone is connected to a group and feels a responsibility for other people, that sense of purpose and meaning translates to taking better care of themselves and taking fewer risks. Relationships also buffer negative and stressful events in life. People need relationships to remain healthy. This does not include driveby online social networking, click click.
