Conrad Black buys $2 million Jail Free card

Why this guy interests Canadians so much is something I’ll never get, most Americans don’t even know who he is, and you won’t find him on the news in the US. But this is what money gets you, a jailfree card. It is for a fact that if he didn’t have all that money he wouldn’t of had a team of lawyers to work day and night and fight to the end to get him out of jail. It took them 2 years, but he’s now a so-called free man.

No, he’s not the worse fo criminals and if he didn’t strip his Canadian citizenship to be a British Lord, he would of spent the same amount of time or less in jail if he were transferred to Canada.

All media reports that all the mansions and property he owns is no longer his. Of course it’s not, he transferred it to someone else now that investment firms and the IRS is after him for $70 Million in back taxes, as if that’s no indictation he’s a fraudster.

Conrad Black’s bail hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday morning in Chicago but the former media baron won’t be there in person.

A court clerk at the U.S. District Court in Chicago says the 8:45 a.m. CT hearing will be held before Judge Amy St. Eve, who presided over Black’s 2007 criminal case.

However, Black’s appeals lawyer, Miguel Estrada, said in an email that his client will not personally attend the hearing.

Black, 65, remains behind bars in a federal prison in Florida.

A U.S. Appeals Court granted Black bail Monday afternoon after a U.S. Supreme Court last month weakened the law that was used to convict him and send him to prison.

Black was convicted of mail and wire fraud, as well as the more serious count of obstruction of justice that carried a 6 ½-year sentence.

He has spent more than two years in jail
